Science Eye, a science and environmental education consulting company located in Broward County but travels to Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties, is looking for passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated part-time science education consultants/instructors/educators. This position is ideal for those interested in teaching hands-on life, physical, Earth and cultural sciences in the classroom and literally within the habitats of the Everglades, including aboard an airboat, and at the beach. Job Summary
This is a part-time position that implements school district science standards through hands-on, inquiry-based, experiential programs that enable students to explore the world around them, gain new insights and make them aware that science is an exciting part of everything they do. We work with public and private schools as well as homeschools, Scouts and other groups who want science education programs.

Our goal is to have fun while instilling self-confidence, develop critical thinking skills and to create a positive relationship with the environment. We don’t just do S.T.E.M., Science Eye goes full S.T.E.E.M. ahead (Science technology Engineering Environment & Math)!


  • Bachelor’s degree or working on a degree in a science, an environmental field or education
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint background check to work with children ages 3-18 (majority are K-8th grade)
  • Competence in, or willingness to quickly learn, various science topics and concepts
  • Competence in, or willingness to quickly learn, driving an airboat (no special license required, only a valid driver’s license)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Means to carry a few plastic bins/water coolers/equipment and travel in their personal vehicle throughout the three counties of Southeast Florida (~80%+ is in Broward County, ~11% is in Palm Beach, ~ 8% in Miami-Dade, ~ 1% come from elsewhere)
  • Timely, responsible and dependable
  • U.S. citizenship or foreign citizen’s U.S. work permit appropriate for the work

  • Professionally committed; genuinely interested in child development; dynamic, enthusiastic and engaging personality; highly developed interpersonal skills; highly developed oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Skilled (or willingness to learn) to effectively and appropriately communicate, keep safe and control groups of youth and adults (many techniques will be taught during training)
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments; ability to withstand Florida’s weather for the length of a school day
  • Ability to work with children who possess a diverse array of learning modalities; ability to change styles of teaching to fit the needs of the group or individual (or willingness to learn skills)
  • Ability to be authoritative in situations when it is needed
  • Ability to let “your inner child” out

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in adverse physical and weather conditions found in Florida throughout the year. On field days, consistently exposed to outdoor biological and physical elements present at the beach and in the Everglades; possibly other field locations may be scheduled. There is some heavy work lifting bins and water coolers in and out of your vehicle and setting up equipment, on occasion up to 50 pounds, usually less.

Terms & Employment
Part-time starting at $12/hour, based on experience. Training and summer pay differs. The length of the work year is September through May. Most programs are Monday – Friday during the school day, approximately 7:00am – 4:30pm depending on the school (elementary school days are typically 8am-2pm, middle school days are typically 9:30am-3:30pm and high school days are typically 7:30am-2:30pm). There are occasional after school, evening and weekend programs. There are opportunities for programs and science camp over the summer months as well.
